The Scinto Foundation makes restricted and unrestricted grants to organizations advancing pediatric surgical care. Below is a plain-language summary of what we fund, who we fund, and how to apply.
Pediatric surgical organizations and PAPS-affiliated programs.
The bulk of our annual giving supports the Pacific Association for Pediatric Surgeons (PAPS) and its educational mission. We also make grants directly to clinics, mission programs, and academic departments delivering measurable pediatric surgical outcomes.
Four focus areas, reviewed each cycle.
Surgical Care Delivery
Direct support for procedures, post-operative care, and pediatric surgical supplies in under-resourced regions.
Training and Fellowships
Funding for pediatric surgical fellowships, mentorship, and continuing education programs.
Equipment and Capacity
Capital grants for pediatric-specific surgical equipment that builds long-term local capacity.
Field Outreach
Targeted support for time-bound mission deployments in partnership with established surgical teams.
A four-step process, twice a year.
1. Letter of Inquiry
Submit a one-page letter describing your organization, the proposed work, and the population served. Letters are accepted year-round.
2. Invited Proposal
Selected organizations are invited to submit a full proposal. The foundation provides a single-page template — no fundraising boilerplate required.
3. Board Review
Proposals are reviewed by the foundation board in spring and fall cycles. Where possible, a board member visits the program in person.
4. Multi-Year Funding
Approved partners receive multi-year commitments and a single, plain-language reporting form due annually.
